TCAP Success Day
WCES held TCAP Success Day on Thursday, September 27, to celebrate our TCAP scores from last year. We want to thank our students again for doing so well on TCAP last year and for helping us to make TCAP Success Day such a great success. Ms Jackie Wester did a wonderful job as coordinator. Many other faculty and staff members assisted her. They planned activities such as the climbing wall, jumping tents, nail painting, face painting, games, jewelry making, crafts, putt putt golf, bean bag toss, can/bottle toss, octopus rings, football toss, basketball toss, sidewalk chalk, bubbles, jump rope, hula hoop, and others. We express a special thanks to our firemen for their demonstrations and to Scott Rimmer and Eric Pinson for displaying their race cars. We also want to thank the many parents and community volunteers, FTA members, and others for all of their help. Our banks provided souvenirs for students, which we appreciate very much. Mr. Carter made sure to provide funding for all of our activities. Ms Rhonda and our lunchroom ladies worked very hard to provide lunch for everyone including all of our visitors. There are so many people to mention who helped to make this day a success, please know that if you helped, you are appreciated. We hope our students do even better on TCAPs this school year, so we can plan another TCAP Success Day next fall.
Once again, congratulations students!

5th Grade Poetry Contest
West Carroll Elementary School's 5th grade students participated in Carroll Bank & Trust's 100th Anniversary Poem Contest. Our finalists are: 1st place, Hannah Johnson; 2nd place, Dylan Chesser; and 3rd place, Morgan Lawrence. Congratulations to these winners! Thanks to Ms Debbie Reed for supporting them in this contest.

Energy Club is Awarded
West Carroll Elementary Energy Club was awarded the 2007 Governor's Environmental Stewardship Award. This award was provided by the State Department of Environment and Conservation. WCES was the only school in Tennessee to receive this award. Congratulations Energy Team! This is not all. Following this award, our Energy Team was recognized and awarded at the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce Banquet on September 24. WCES Energy Team received The Jessica Andrews Youth Achievement Award for achievement which gained National recognition for Carroll County. Congratulations to all energy team members, parents and sponsors! This could not have been possible without Ms Mollie Vann, Ms Jana Vickers, and Ms Lori McClain. Good luck with all energy team activities this school year.
