#TeacherTributeThursday 20+ Employee Highlight: Marcia Miller, 33 Years of Service
When Mrs. Marcia Miller started at West Carroll right out of college 33 years ago, she never left. After serving at both West Carroll Primary and West Carroll Elementary, Mrs. Miller has taught several things within the district, from Special Education to 6th grade Math and Social Studies.
Her Principal, Dr. Jessica Williams, notes that Mrs. Miller is an exceptionally dependable math teacher whose student growth is consistently in the top tenth percentile of the state. Mrs. Miller brings passion and high expectations to her classroom, working hard to develop meaningful relationships with her students.
Mrs. Miller loves that West Carroll is made up of small communities where everyone truly cares. She hopes her students remember that she pushed them because she cared and believed they could be successful.
Advice for New Teachers: "Don’t be afraid to ask for help. We’ve all been in your shoes. And don't be afraid to learn something new. I’m still learning!".

Big impact, big commitment.
Two decades or more: WCSSD honored its longest-serving employees this week. Over 30 educators, support staff, and leaders were recognized for their dedication to the district.
And A remarkable congratulations to Ms. Linda Hatfield on achieving 48 years.

Yesterday, our FBLA students spent the day at the Tennessee Titans Learning Lab at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, where they explored how a major organization runs behind the scenes.
Students heard from multiple departments, including Client Services and Hospitality, Cause Marketing, Ticket Sales, Group Sales, Membership Services, Equipment, and Stadium Operations. Each team shared insight into their careers and how the Titans operate as a business. One of the students' favorite parts was touring the locker room where they had the chance to try on equipment for a closer look at game-day operations.
It was a great hands-on learning experience that connected business concepts to real-world careers. We are proud of our FBLA students for representing West Carroll so well!

Today, we remember and honor our Veterans.

Junior High Homecoming Week at West Carroll was packed with energy and school spirit from start to finish. Students took part in themed dress-up days, friendly competitions, and activities that brought the whole junior high together. The week wrapped up with our Homecoming basketball games, where War Eagle fans filled the gym to cheer on both teams. Final winning scores were Girls: 38-26 and Boys: 47-39, and our players fought hard for their wins in front of a packed crowd.
Before the games, we recognized our Homecoming Court, celebrating students chosen by their peers to represent their grade level. This year’s court included: Norah Reynolds (6th grade), escorted by Ryker Cherry, Kate Jackson (8th grade), escorted by Dhamyus Gilbert, Jasmin Dodd (8th grade), escorted by Kaven Baker, and Kinsley Newsome (7th grade), escorted by Drake Herndon. Kate Jackson, daughter of Jeremy and Keshia Jackson., was crowned as the 2025 West Carroll Junior High Homecoming Queen. To close out the night, students gathered for the Homecoming Dance, where they enjoyed music, photos, and time with friends!
Thank you to our students, staff, and families for making Junior High Homecoming a memorable success. Events like this highlight the spirit and connection that make West Carroll special.

West Carroll FFA students recently traveled to Indianapolis, Indiana, for the National FFA Convention and Expo, where they spent several days last week learning about leadership, agriculture, and career opportunities.
Students experienced hands-on learning at honey production, toured dairy and hog farms, witnessed a calf being born, and connected with FFA members and recruiters from across the country. 🐝🐄🐷
Senior Joy Bryant shared, “I was excited to talk with recruiters from dozens of universities from across the United States.”
We’re proud of our FFA students for representing West Carroll with excellence and continuing to grow as future leaders in agriculture! 🦅
