It's time for Powder Puff football! Join us for a fun night of football on Saturday, October 3 at 7:00 PM at West Carroll Jr./Sr. High School!
Admission is $5, and Tennessee Crush Water Ice will be available. There will also be a silent auction featuring homemade food items and restaurant gift cards. Proceeds will benefit the Class of 2027 Project Graduation. Students (9th -12th) interested in participating should see Mrs. Piper to sign up.

Homecoming Week at West Carroll Starts TOMORROW through October 2! Get ready for a full week of dress-up days, class competitions, Eagle spirit, and Homecoming traditions leading up to Friday night’s game against Lake County.
Dress-Up Days:
Monday: Dress Like Your Favorite Holiday
Tuesday: Clone Day
Wednesday: Pink Out for Breast Cancer Awareness
Thursday: Dress for the Wrong Event
Friday: Extreme Spirit Color War
Freshmen: Grey | Sophomores: White | Juniors & 7th: Maroon | Seniors & 8th: Black
Please remember that school dress code still applies throughout the week. No pajamas, onesies, masks, bathing suits, or other items that do not meet dress code requirements.
During 4th period, students will compete throughout the week with Door Decorating on Monday, Eagle Olympics on Tuesday, a Volleyball Tournament on Wednesday, Lip Sync Battle on Thursday, and the Pep Rally on Friday.
Tuesday, September 29: Our High School JV and Varsity Volleyball team takes on McKenzie at 5:30, then stick around to join us for the Community Bonfire at 7:30pm.
Friday, October 2: We’re bringing all three West Carroll schools together for a district-wide Homecoming Pep Rally! Later that night, tailgating opens at 5:00 p.m. in the WCHS parking lot, followed by the Homecoming Court on the field at 6:00 p.m. and kickoff against Lake County at 7:00 p.m.

Thursday, we were excited to welcome the Leadership Carroll County cohort to West Carroll for a closer look at what is happening inside our school. Dr. Adam Douglas, along with Leadership Carroll County alum Ms. Erin Lewis, and CTE Director Mrs. Kristin Lindsey, led the group on a tour with a special focus on our Career and Technical Education programs. The cohort also got an inside look at The Roost, an exciting project currently in the works at West Carroll!
We love opportunities to open our doors and show our community how our students are gaining hands-on experience and preparing for life beyond the classroom.

As we prepare for our upcoming High School Homecoming, we want to celebrate and recap our recent Junior High Homecoming and 8th Grade Night Celebrations! Our Junior High students celebrated with dress-up days, plenty of school spirit, and a night of cheering on the War Eagles. We also recognized our 8th grade students before the game and celebrated this year’s Junior High Homecoming Court at halftime. Congratulations to our Junior High Homecoming Queen - Kinsley Newsome!

From West Carroll to MTSU! West Carroll seniors recently had the opportunity to hear from a familiar face as Garrett McNeil, West Carroll Class of 2014 and MTSU Admissions Counselor, visited with our senior class!
Garrett shared information about Middle Tennessee State University and helped students learn more about the college admissions process and opportunities available after graduation. It is always special to welcome a West Carroll graduate back to campus, especially when they can help our current students prepare for their own next steps. A big thank you to Mr. McNeil for coming back to WC and investing in the next generation of Eagles!

On September 22, our West Carroll Cross Country Team, sporting new uniforms, ran in the Huntingdon Cross Country meet. Mr. Brody Baker and Isiah Snyder represented West Carroll very well with respectable run times.
The classmates who came to cheer on the Cross-Country team made a huge difference; the runners and Coach Martin really appreciate them attending.
The next Cross-Country meet will be on September 29th at 5:00 p.m. At Obion County High School. We hope to see you there.

Our students have been putting their reading skills to work, and last Thursday, 117 Junior Trackers took on a very important case: The Case of the Missing Donuts!
Students who read 12 books or earned 12 AR points officially became Junior Trackers. They used their reading, problem-solving, and detective skills to follow clues, solve puzzles, and work their way through the mystery to discover who stole the missing donuts!
The investigation was a huge success, and students had a great time putting their skills to the test. After solving the case, our Junior Trackers were rewarded with a HUGE tower of delicious donuts! 🍩🍩🍩
The investigation continues with our next reading goal. Students who read 25 books or earn 25 AR points will become official Clue Collectors! 🕵️♀️📚

What a season for West Carroll Golf!
The War Eagles wrapped up an incredible season at the District Tournament in Milan, with each golfer showing tremendous growth, determination, and effort throughout the year. A special congratulations goes to Mackenzie Finley, who earned a spot in the Regional Tournament! After finishing tied with four other golfers, Mackenzie competed in a playoff and came out on top to secure 4th place in the girls' district competition and advance to regionals. Way to represent West Carroll, Mackenzie!
Jack Robinson and Gunner Martin also put together strong performances while taking on a challenging 18-hole course.
Congratulations to the entire team on a great season, and a special congratulations to our seniors on a year well played. We are proud of you, Eagles!

📍 Math Meets the Real World!
Our sixth-grade mathematicians recently traded traditional worksheets for community planning as they put their coordinate plane skills to work!
Working in teams, students designed their own imaginary communities on four-quadrant coordinate planes, plotting locations like schools, hospitals, libraries, fire stations, parks, grocery stores, and sports complexes using positive and negative coordinates.
But they didn’t stop there. Students also used absolute value to calculate distances between locations and then created an additional community resource, chose its coordinates, and explained how it would benefit the people living there.
This hands-on activity gave students a chance to apply Tennessee Grade 6 math standards while collaborating, problem-solving, and seeing how mathematics connects to real-world planning and decision-making.
And according to our students, the best part was getting to create their own communities alongside their classmates!

We are excited for our 3rd-6th grade students to participate in the **Rockabilly Readers Program** this year!
Students who complete the program requirements will earn a **field trip in May to a Rockabilly Baseball game**. ⚾
To qualify, students will need to read **20 minutes a day for three weeks** during October and again during February.
**Parents, we need your help with three things:**
1. Complete your child’s online registration here:

2. Sign your child’s reading tracking form and return it to school.
3. Help make sure your child reads for **20 minutes each assigned day** and completes the tracking form.
We would love for **every student to earn this trip**, but students can only participate if the required registration and signed forms are completed.

Spanish students recently put their language skills to work by creating projects that demonstrate how to express their likes, dislikes, and the things they really enjoy in Spanish. This activity gave students the chance to practice new vocabulary and grammar while using Spanish to communicate about something they know best: themselves!

Attendance Awareness Month continues at West Carroll, and this week we’re focusing on a simple idea: every hour matters.
Appointments and other commitments happen, but when possible, they don’t have to mean missing an entire school day. Students can still come to school before an appointment or return afterward. Even part of the day gives students valuable time for learning, meals, support, activities, and connections with friends and teachers.
And good attendance isn’t something schools and families have to tackle alone. It takes a community. Our local businesses, neighbors, families, and community members can help by encouraging students, checking in without judgment, and reminding them that school is a place where they belong and have opportunities to grow.
A missed hour may seem small, but those hours add up. So do the hours spent learning, connecting, and showing up. Every day matters. Every hour matters. Every student matters.
