West Carroll Elementary welcomed incoming third graders and their families for Move Up Night on May 12!

Families had the chance to tour the school, meet teachers, and get a firsthand look at what to expect in third grade at the Trezevant campus. With support from both WCES and WCP staff, the evening highlighted the strong sense of community that helps make every transition a successful one. WCP Second Grade Teachers and WCP principal attended as a familiar face and to encourage their learners as they transition to third grade.

A favorite moment of the night was hearing from current third graders, who shared that while the move can feel a little nerve-wracking at first, it quickly becomes fun with great teachers, new opportunities, and even a few third-grade perks along the way.

At West Carroll, a new building still means the same school family. 💙📚

IMPORTANT UPDATE regarding Spring ACT Scores:
Based on its continual evaluation of scores, ACT has informed us that it needs to reissue scores for students who took the ACT online during the school day this spring. If you are among those students, your current score will be removed from your MyACT account on Wednesday, May 13. When scores are available again (no later than June 2), your Composite score and section scores will remain the same OR go up slightly based on your individual performance. Your scores will NOT be lower than what was previously released. There is no action you need to take. ACT will post revised scores on MyACT and will be resending scores to your school. If you previously opted to send scores via ACT to a college, university, or scholarship-awarding organization, they, too, will be sent any updated scores.

Field Day at West Carroll Elementary was a day full of teamwork and friendly competition. The weather was perfect for students and families to enjoy events like relay races, tug of war, dodgeball, and more.

One of the highlights was the student appreciation station, where students cooled off with snow cones and captured memories with friends. It was the perfect way to celebrate a successful school year together! 🎉

Our band did a great job representing West Carroll as they marched through the parade, and several of our football players helped pull a float for our primary school students. We love seeing our students and programs come together to represent our school and community so well.

Come and Spring Into a Good Book

Literacy Night at WCP was filled with excitement, creativity, and a love for reading. The evening began with a heartfelt dedication ceremony led by the second grade class. Under the guidance of Karen Talley, students worked together to write and illustrate a book featuring their own imaginative stories. The class chose to dedicate their book to their beloved classmate, Atticus Ecker, whom they lost during their Kindergarten year. His parents, Blair Sage (Skyler) and Jacob Ecker (Ashley), were presented with a copy by Principal, Jackie Wester.

Throughout the building, themed reading areas offered engaging book selections for all ages. Students eagerly worked toward completing their goal of reading 100 books, with a trip to Discovery Park awaiting those who succeed. The night truly celebrated literacy, community, and remembrance.
