The results were fantastic: 42% mastered the second-grade list, and almost 20% reached the third-grade level! We celebrated their hard work with popsicles and pizza, but the real win is seeing their dedication to becoming stronger readers. Way to go, WCP! 🍕🍦

"I've got no worries about 6th grade. It was fun." - Eli Joyner, rising 6th grade student. That about sums up Move Up Day at West Carroll. 🎒
Move Up Day gave West Carroll Elementary students a chance to step into next year a little early. They visited new classrooms, met the teachers they'll see in August, and took part in short lessons along the way. Each student carried a passport to jot down what they learned and what they're looking forward to.
For rising sixth graders, the day was all about getting comfortable with middle school. Current sixth graders looked back on their time in the building and started thinking about what's next. Our 6th grade students will visit the junior high this week.

Families had the chance to tour the school, meet teachers, and get a firsthand look at what to expect in third grade at the Trezevant campus. With support from both WCES and WCP staff, the evening highlighted the strong sense of community that helps make every transition a successful one. WCP Second Grade Teachers and WCP principal attended as a familiar face and to encourage their learners as they transition to third grade.
A favorite moment of the night was hearing from current third graders, who shared that while the move can feel a little nerve-wracking at first, it quickly becomes fun with great teachers, new opportunities, and even a few third-grade perks along the way.
At West Carroll, a new building still means the same school family. 💙📚

Based on its continual evaluation of scores, ACT has informed us that it needs to reissue scores for students who took the ACT online during the school day this spring. If you are among those students, your current score will be removed from your MyACT account on Wednesday, May 13. When scores are available again (no later than June 2), your Composite score and section scores will remain the same OR go up slightly based on your individual performance. Your scores will NOT be lower than what was previously released. There is no action you need to take. ACT will post revised scores on MyACT and will be resending scores to your school. If you previously opted to send scores via ACT to a college, university, or scholarship-awarding organization, they, too, will be sent any updated scores.
One of the highlights was the student appreciation station, where students cooled off with snow cones and captured memories with friends. It was the perfect way to celebrate a successful school year together! 🎉

Students celebrated their achievement with a special trip to Discovery Park of America.

3rd Grade Move Up Preview Night is tonight, Tuesday, May 12, from 6:00 to 7:00 PM at WCES.
Families will have the opportunity to tour the school, meet the teachers, ask questions, and learn more about the exciting transition to 3rd grade.
A free spaghetti dinner will be served. We can’t wait to welcome you!
