Our West Carroll FBLA students had an incredible trip to Chattanooga for the State Leadership Conference. We’re proud to share that every competitor placed in the Top 3 in their events! These top finishes also earned students an invitation to the National Leadership Conference in San Antonio, Texas, this summer. Between leadership events, networking, and keynote speakers, students had the opportunity to spend time together, explore Chattanooga, and bonding together as a club. We want to thank our FBLA advisors, Ryan Mansfield and Erin Lewis, as well as our sponsors: Town of Atwood, Centennial Bank, and Robinson Trucking for all their support! We’re proud of how our students represented West Carroll and can’t wait to see what’s ahead at Nationals.!✈️📊

Kindergarten students in Mrs. Taelor Byer’s class received a special surprise visit from Richard the Turtle. Accompanied by Mr. Malik Cox, Richard quickly became the center of attention as students eagerly explored his habitat, examined his shell, and learned about his diet. While many were fascinated, some students were a bit unsure about holding him.

Despite the hesitation, the visit sparked curiosity, smiles, and excitement throughout the classroom. Both Mr. Cox and Richard seemed to enjoy the warm welcome and the opportunity to share a hands-on learning experience with the young learners.

West Carroll Elementary Hosts Math Carnival for Family Engagement

West Carroll Elementary School turned math into a night of fun and excitement during its Math Carnival held on March 31, 2026. With a lively carnival theme, the event brought together students and their families for an evening focused on learning and community engagement.

The event took place at the Town of Trezevant’s walking track, where families enjoyed a variety of interactive activities. Students began the evening by visiting math stations tailored to their grade levels, solving problems that challenged their skills while reinforcing classroom learning.

After completing the math activities, students were rewarded with a range of carnival-style games, including giant Connect 4, Plinko, tic-tac-toe, ring toss, and more. The fun continued with face painting and classic treats such as hot dogs, cotton candy, snow cones, and popcorn.

Sixth-grade teacher Shanna Pafford shared her enthusiasm for the event, saying, “It was wonderful to see our students excited about math and enjoying time with their families. Events like this help show that learning can be fun, engaging, and something to celebrate together.”

The Math Carnival proved to be a successful evening, combining education and entertainment while strengthening connections between the school and its families.

We are excited to share that our very own Carson Cooper, West Tennessee Regional winner, has now been named the State Champion in FFA Beef Production - Placement SAE. This is the first-ever State Title earned by West Carroll FFA! Carson will now have the opportunity to compete and represent WCHS at the national level.

SAEs (Supervised Agricultural Experiences) are hands-on, student-led projects that allow FFA members to apply what they learn in the classroom to real-world agricultural careers.

We are incredibly proud of Carson, as well as our entire FFA program and sponsors, for representing West Carroll so well at the state level! Next stop: Nationals!!
