Cheer tryouts for current 5th-111th graders are set for March 20.
📄 A current sports physical must be on file to participate in any cheer activity. Physical forms are available at your school’s front office.

➡️If your child is PF4, going into Kindergarten, he/she does not come to registration. Their information will roll into the 2026/2027 school year.

🔢 Infinite Fun, Infinite Learning
West Carroll Elementary marked Pi Day (3.14) with a full day of hands-on learning.
Ms. Madison McClure designed grade-level activities for 3rd through 6th grade that brought circles and geometry to life. Projects like using string to label parts of a circle, working through math challenges using 3.14, discovering why pi equals 3.14, reading Sir Cumference and the Dragon of Pi and Sir Cumference and the Round Table, and more. Every activity was connected to grade-level geometry standards.
And because no Pi Day is complete without pie our lunch ladies, Shelia, Tina, Kay, and Hope, brought in a spread of homemade pies for every student and staff member to enjoy.

Happy (early) Pi Day from the best pastry chefs in the county!
Our WCES cafeteria ladies did it again! To help us celebrate PI day (a day early) they served the students and staff a variety of pies!
Yes, homemade pies- Apple, Chocolate Chess, Lemon Ice box, Chocolate Custard Pie, Chocolate Chip, Chess, and Banana!
And here's what makes this even more remarkable: these incredible women purchased every single ingredient, supplied every single material, and covered every single cost entirely out of their own pockets. Four generous, big-hearted ladies who wanted to do something special for our kids and staff because that's exactly who they are.
We are so thankful to have these Pastry Chefs at West Carroll Elementary!

McLemoresville, TN — West Carroll Primary first graders are putting their STEM skills to the test as they prepare for a mischievous visitor ahead of St. Patrick’s Day. Students have been busy designing and building creative traps in hopes of catching a leprechaun.
Using problem-solving, teamwork, and a little imagination, the young engineers carefully planned their traps. The excitement continued as students created colorful “Wanted” posters that now decorate the school hallways, warning that a sneaky leprechaun may be on the loose.
Will anyone catch the leprechaun? 🍀

🥧🌟Happy Pi Day from Mrs. Robinson's class! 🌟🥧
On 3.14, we will celebrate Pi Day. Although we won't be in school on March 14th, Mrs. Robinson's classes celebrated in the most delicious way possible, with our very own mini pies!
We kicked things off with the story of Sir Cumference and the Dragon of Pi and then got to work like true mathematicians! Students measured circumference, found center points, diameters, and radii. Using this information, each student wrote their very own formulas based on their discoveries! 📏📐
But the real magic? Using string cut to the length of each circle's circumference, students kept cutting diameter-length pieces… and every single time, they were left with 3 whole cuts and a little piece left over. Time after time. Circle after circle.
That little leftover piece? That's the moment it all clicked. THAT'S why pi = 3.1415…
Students didn't just learn about pi. They discovered it just like mathematicians did thousands of years ago. We couldn't be more proud of these junior high and elementary problem-solvers! 🎉

Last week, our Advanced Art students traveled to University of Tennessee at Martin to participate in UTM College Art Day. This was a wonderful opportunity that allowed students to enter work into a juried art show, take various art classes, and socialize with other art students from the West Tennessee area. Our students were able to take classes such as: Figure Drawing, Sculpture, Print Making, and Theatre.
West Carroll brought home two awards from the juried art show! 3rd place in Mixed Media as well as Honorable Mention in Sculpture. We are so proud of our Art program and our students for representing West Carroll so well!

Third Graders Become “Fraction Detectives” in Interactive Math Lesson
Students in Mrs. Lisa Brown’s third-grade class were busy solving mysteries this week as they participated in an engaging math lesson focused on Tennessee Math Standard 3.NF.A.1. The lesson challenged students to explore fractions as parts of a whole by acting as “Fraction Detectives.”
Students worked together to break apart shapes and objects into equal pieces. The goal of the lesson was to help students understand that a fraction represents one or more equal parts of a whole that has been divided into equal sections.
After the lesson, students worked in small groups at learning stations. At one station, students used a pizza pan to sort “food” fraction magnets to make a whole. At the other stations students quizzed one another using flash cards, worked to complete fraction games on their computers, and participated in a fraction scavenger hunt.
By the end of the lesson, students were confidently explaining fractions and demonstrating their understanding with drawings and models. The interactive activities helped turn what can sometimes be a difficult concept into a fun and memorable learning experience.
“This lesson was designed to help students build a strong foundation for future math learning,” shared Mrs. Lisa Brown, 3rd grade Math/Science. “This was a very exciting week and the children enjoyed learning about fractions!”

McLemoresville, TN — Kindergarten students at WCP ended their reading unit on kings and queens with a celebration fit for royalty. After spending weeks learning about castles, crowns, and royal life, students arrived ready to celebrate in true royal style. Classrooms were filled with laughter, imagination, and plenty of smiles as the young learners enjoyed their special day together. Crowns, costumes, and creative activities helped bring their reading lessons to life. Teachers captured many memorable moments throughout the celebration. The event served as a fun reminder that learning can be both meaningful and exciting.
As one teacher joked, “Whoever said school isn’t fun clearly hasn’t visited kindergarten at WCP.”
