Kindergarten students recently completed a hands-on study of Native Americans, learning how geography shaped daily life and traditions across different tribes. Students created tipis, designed canoes, and made colorful headbands as part of their class projects.

WCP honored Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with hallways filled with student artwork, photos, and meaningful quotes celebrating his life and legacy. Displays throughout the building have sparked thoughtful classroom conversations about kindness, courage, and doing what’s right along with one message seen again and again: “I have a dream…”

Fourth-grade students at West Carroll Elementary continued their “First Frontiers” journey in library with Mrs. Pat Hudgins, focusing on the Declaration of Independence and why it was written in 1776.
Students discussed the ideas of freedom and individual rights, learned about John Hancock’s famous signature (and practiced creating their own!), and explored the meaning of “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” They also connected history to math by using timelines to calculate the years between 1776 and major milestones in U.S. history.
A thoughtful, engaging lesson and a great example of crosscurricular learning. 📚⭐

On January 23rd, WCP celebrated their 100th day of school!
The first 100 days of school have truly flown by at WCP, and our PreK–2 students marked this exciting milestone with creativity, joy, and meaningful learning. PreK through 2nd grade students celebrated by dressing up as if they were 100 years old, showing off imaginative costumes that brought lots of smiles. First grade took the celebration one step further with a festive 101 Dalmatians black-and-white theme to honor 101 days of learning. Best dressed winners were chosen for each grade level.
Beyond the fun, the day was thoughtfully tied to instructional content. Students participated in hands-on 100-day activities that reinforced key skills such as counting, number sense, patterns, reading, writing, and problem-solving. These activities helped students reflect on how much they have grown academically and socially since the first day of school.

For Valentine's Day celebrations (Fri. 2/13), our Junior/Senior High School will allow Valentine's gifts to be dropped off at the school for students or staff. Please remember, if the recipient rides a bus, no glass, balloons, or oversized items. Our Prom Committee is also selling Valentine’s gifts to be delivered to 7-12 students during 3rd block on 2/13! Our West Carroll, Carroll County Youth Leadership students recently attended the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce Capitol Talk Series, a meaningful opportunity to learn more about state government and how legislation impacts our local communities. The event took place on January 16, 2026, at the Carroll County Civic Center, featuring State Representative Brock Martin. He discussed policy updates, legislative priorities, and issues impacting Carroll County. Also during the session, Colonel James Harding, was presented with the Distinguished Career and Leadership Award for his dedication, leadership, and commitment to serving our nation, as well as his contributions to Carroll County.

Students may ride the bus to the high school to meet inside at the gym
