National School Counselor Week 💙🎓
This week, we celebrate our school counselors and the vital role they play in supporting students every day. School Counselors Amplify Student Success!
From academic planning and college and career guidance to social and emotional support, our counselors are always working behind the scenes and face-to-face to help students grow, overcome challenges, and reach their goals.
We’re grateful for all you do for our students and our school community. Thank you for making a difference every single day.

West Carroll Elementary School proudly recognizes the students who earned a place on the Principal’s List for Quarter 2. This distinction is awarded to students who achieved all A’s on their report card, reflecting outstanding academic performance and a strong commitment to learning.
The students pictured include, back row (left to right): Sofia Blackketter, Norah Reynolds, Eva Gibson, Camilla Jenkins, Paisley Bennett, Cooper Pinson, and Michael Dodd. Front row (left to right): Landon Moffler, Taylor Marlow, Paisley Clenney, Jackson Meals, Amelia Stoots, and Alyza Martin. Not pictured: Madalyn Cook.
West Carroll Elementary School congratulates these students on their hard work and dedication and looks forward to their continued success throughout the school year.

Mrs. Malorie Jo Watkins said, “Most importantly, it was a fun and memorable learning experience that sparked curiosity and excitement in our classroom.”

Thank you to Cindy Smith for sharing.

Students discussed the ideas of freedom and individual rights, learned about John Hancock’s famous signature (and practiced creating their own!), and explored the meaning of “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” They also connected history to math by using timelines to calculate the years between 1776 and major milestones in U.S. history.
A thoughtful, engaging lesson and a great example of crosscurricular learning. 📚⭐

The first 100 days of school have truly flown by at WCP, and our PreK–2 students marked this exciting milestone with creativity, joy, and meaningful learning. PreK through 2nd grade students celebrated by dressing up as if they were 100 years old, showing off imaginative costumes that brought lots of smiles. First grade took the celebration one step further with a festive 101 Dalmatians black-and-white theme to honor 101 days of learning. Best dressed winners were chosen for each grade level.
Beyond the fun, the day was thoughtfully tied to instructional content. Students participated in hands-on 100-day activities that reinforced key skills such as counting, number sense, patterns, reading, writing, and problem-solving. These activities helped students reflect on how much they have grown academically and socially since the first day of school.
Celebrating the 100th (and 101st!) day is more than a party—it’s a powerful reminder of progress, perseverance, and the strong foundation our students have built. This milestone highlights how learning adds up every single day at WCP.

Students stayed engaged through hands-on activities, teamwork, and lots of “let’s try it” moments, ending with a fan-favorite classroom snowball toss. ❄️🙌

Today, our 5th graders hit a major milestone: 1,000 days of school!
We celebrated with a high-energy Breakout game and some serious "future-thinking."
We asked them: What do you think you'll be doing in another 1,000 school days? (Which, believe it or not, puts them in 11th grade on the 20th day of school! 🤯)
From future engineers to aspiring artists, their dreams are as big as their math skills.
We may not know exactly where they’ll be, but we know they’re ready for the next 1,000.
