Second grade students created plant journals to record daily observations. We started with Day 1—placing our impatiens seeds in the soil. Now the growing begins! Can't wait to see them after Spring Break!

Despite the hesitation, the visit sparked curiosity, smiles, and excitement throughout the classroom. Both Mr. Cox and Richard seemed to enjoy the warm welcome and the opportunity to share a hands-on learning experience with the young learners.

Their compassion and patience make a difference in the lives of our students every single day. Whether they're encouraging a struggling learner or celebrating student successes, their impact does not go unnoticed.
We are so grateful for all that that do for our students every day!

West Carroll Elementary School turned math into a night of fun and excitement during its Math Carnival held on March 31, 2026. With a lively carnival theme, the event brought together students and their families for an evening focused on learning and community engagement.
The event took place at the Town of Trezevant’s walking track, where families enjoyed a variety of interactive activities. Students began the evening by visiting math stations tailored to their grade levels, solving problems that challenged their skills while reinforcing classroom learning.
After completing the math activities, students were rewarded with a range of carnival-style games, including giant Connect 4, Plinko, tic-tac-toe, ring toss, and more. The fun continued with face painting and classic treats such as hot dogs, cotton candy, snow cones, and popcorn.
Sixth-grade teacher Shanna Pafford shared her enthusiasm for the event, saying, “It was wonderful to see our students excited about math and enjoying time with their families. Events like this help show that learning can be fun, engaging, and something to celebrate together.”
The Math Carnival proved to be a successful evening, combining education and entertainment while strengthening connections between the school and its families.
